(Somerville, MA) – Calling U.S. Representative Mike Capuano (D-Somerville) a “true champion” of environmental protection, progressive issues, and working families, the Massachusetts Organization of State Engineers and Scientists (MOSES) has endorsed the incumbent’s campaign for re-election in Massachusetts 7th Congressional District.
“MOSES recognizes Congressman Capuano’s commitment to fighting for working families, standing up for progressive issues and advocating for the protection of our precious natural resources,” said Joseph Dorant, president of MOSES. “The congressman has a proven track record of support on issues of importance to our membership, of working tirelessly to successfully deliver federal transportation funding to Massachusetts, and of serving as a true champion on environmental issues.”
“It is an honor to be recognized by MOSES as an elected official who shares the organization’s commitment to the core values that define the Democratic party,” said Congressman Capuano. “I will continue working every single day to combat President Trump’s destructive and dangerous environmental agenda by tirelessly championing legislation and regulations that address climate change and help reduce carbon emissions.”
MOSES represents over 3,300 dedicated public employees of the Commonwealth who perform vital work at 30 state agencies. Its membership includes construction and civil engineers at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), environmental engineers and Hazardous Materials Team members at the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), regional planners at the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and wage enforcement inspectors at the Attorney General’s Office.
Rep. Capuano has been endorsed for re-election by an array of labor organizations, progressive champions, and leading elected officials such as civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis, who called Capuano “a leader alongside those of us opposing the unfair and immoral policies of the Trump Administration” who shows “courage on so many issues,” including income inequality, civil rights, gun control, health care, affordable housing, gender pay inequity, immigration and transportation.
