Mike Capuano Receives Endorsement from East Boston Community Leaders
EAST BOSTON, BOSTON – Tuesday, August 14, 2018 – East Boston community leaders endorsed U.S. Rep. Michael E. Capuano for re-election this Sunday at East Boston local business Angela’s Cafe. State Senator Joe Boncore (D-1st Suffolk and Middlesex), State Representative Adrian Madaro (D-1st Suffolk), former State Representative Carlo Basile (D-1st Suffolk), former Boston City Councilor John Nucci (At Large), and former Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina (District 1) shared their support for Rep. Capuano, citing his strong track record of delivering for East Boston and fighting for progressive priorities.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have earned the support of so many in East Boston,” said Rep. Capuano. “I’m proud of the work I’ve done to make sure that every working family has a fair shot, and I’ll continue to fight to make sure that no matter what Donald Trump does, our communities keep moving forward. With the support of our communities, I will continue to fight for affordable housing, Medicare for all, equitable transit, and to level the playing field for all.
Sen. Boncore praised Rep. Capuano for his work fighting for the community.
“Mike Capuano has been a tireless fighter for East Boston,” said Sen. Boncore. “We need representatives who can stand up to Donald Trump and deliver for our neighborhoods. Mike has always been there for us, and will never back down when it comes to making our communities a better place. I’m proud to call Mike a friend and I strongly support sending a fighter for East Boston like him back to Congress.”
Rep. Madaro praised how Rep. Capuano has always stood up for East Boston.
“Now more than ever, we need experienced fighters who can deliver for our communities, and Congressman Capuano has always been there to stand up for us,” said Rep. Madaro. “East Boston has a true champion in Mike Capuano. I’m proud to support his campaign and keep a proven fighter for us in Congress.”
Rep. Basile also commented on Rep. Capuano’s ability to deliver for East Boston and the community at large.
“Mike Capuano knows what it takes to get things done, and he has a proven record of bringing people together to solve problems and deliver for our communities,” said Rep. Basile. “If we want to keep our communities moving forward, we need to send Mike back to Congress so that we can continue to work hard for us.”
Boston City Councilor Nucci lauded Rep. Capuano’s work in the community to make people’s lives better.
“I am proud to support Mike Capuano based on his proven track record of working hard every day for our communities,” said Councilor Nucci. “Working families deserve a representative who will stand up for them, and Mike has shown that he has what it takes to fight for workers and deliver real results for this district.”
Councilor LaMattina also praised Rep. Capuano for his hard work on behalf of the people of East Boston and throughout the district.
