The Capuano for US Senate Campaign will begin airing a television commercial today, entitled “Stand”, that addresses some of the strong stands Mike Capuano has taken while in Congress, reflective of the legacy of the man whose seat he’s seeking, Senator Ted Kennedy.

In the commercial, which will air statewide on broadcast and cable TV stations, Capuano states that “Ted Kennedy taught me that Washington is a tough town where you have to stand and fight when it really matters.”

As the only Senate candidate with legislative experience, Capuano talks about the times he stood with Kennedy, taking principled stances unpopular at the time, including voting against the Iraq War and opposing President Bush’s efforts to privatize Social Security.

“Mike Capuano has a measurable record of taking stands on the important issues of our times, and fighting for the principles that matter – war and peace, civil liberties, health care for all and Social Security. In the Senate, we know that Mike will stand up for us because he has always stood up when it mattered, in the House and as a Mayor,” stated Michael Shea of Shea & Associates, who produced the commercial.
